Hello, my name is Weston Koyama. I created this program to simplify my need to journal on a daily basis. Journaling is a vitally important practice for mental health and mental wellbeing. Journaling helps the writer stay present in the moment. You can journal using a physical journal pad, but this can become cumbersome if you run out of pages or if you happen to like big journal pads that are difficult to carry with you on vacation. You could also journal using a simple word processing program like MS Word or TextEdit or Notepad. However, these word processing programs have many features (fonts, font sizes, etc.) that can prove distracting if all you want to do is write your thoughts! Furthermore, these word processing programs do not save all your journal entries in one place. This program aims to simplify the journaling experience by severely limiting user options and focusing on the bare essentials of journaling.
I wrote this program primarily for myself, but share it in case anyone will find it useful for journaling in a highly simplified manner. The user interface is inspired by Macintosh computers in the late 1980s and 1990s that featured Hypercard and the program is written in a descendant of the HyperTalk programming language called Live Code. HyperTalk is a programming language that is extremely basic and so bells and whistles found in other programming languages are more difficult to implement. So please don't complain if this program doesn't meet your needs. The program is simple and stripped down by design.
