Slime Mold Sandbox

Slime molds are uniquely fascinating single celled organisms.  Several different types of organisms fall under the common ‘slime mold’ name (though they are not actually molds), but of particular note is a type of protist called Physarum polycephalum.  These slime molds form intricate patterns as they grow.  You may have spotted them occasionally appearing in the news as goopy yellow maze solvers.  It turns out that many of their dynamics will emerge naturally from a fairly simple GPU-based simulation.  This app implements such simulation and makes it interactive.
