OnEdit is a native macOS text editor for developers and writers who value speed, clarity, and a focused workspace. Open files and folders, move between tabs, edit code and structured text with syntax highlighting, and preview documents without pulling in a full IDE. Work naturally with Finder, Open With, sandboxed file access, security-scoped folders, bookmarks, search and replace, hidden files, and app-local preferences. OnEdit supports Markdown, HTML, JSON, JSON Lines, SQL, LaTeX source, images including SVG, PDF, video, Word, CSV, and spreadsheets where applicable. Quick Notes provide a lightweight local capture workflow from the menu bar or a main-editor selection. Search titles, text, and tags in Notes, Favorites, and Archive; insert a note at the current editor selection/caret; or save it as a portable .onedit, Plain Text, or HTML document. Open the same note as a rich tab beside your text and code files, or keep it in a focused Sticky Note above normal windows, without creating competing editors. Each Sticky Note remembers its own frame visibility, position, and size locally. Format rich text directly in one native editor, choose the same Default, Custom Color, gradient, or Sketchbook Background available in the main editor, and copy a selection or the whole note with both rich and plain-text compatibility. Each note remembers its Background and organization metadata across manager, editor tab, and Sticky windows, export, deletion, and restore. Deleted notes remain recoverable for 30 days with Restore, Delete Permanently, and automatic expiry. Import, export, or reveal portable versioned .onedit files. Notes remain on your Mac and do not use an OnEdit account or server. Markdown Preview renders Mermaid diagrams and offline LaTeX math, with per-equation placement preserved in Print and PDF export. Markdown and HTML previews support local media, selectable rendered text, code-block copy actions, synchronized Edit/Preview scrolling, printing, and PDF export. The optional Markdown Workbench runs only trusted, user-initiated local code blocks and keeps output and receipt state visible. Starter Templates help you begin common document and source formats quickly. File refresh and external-change handling keep long-running workspaces in sync, while the Sketchbook Glass interface, full view scaling, and Presentation Mode keep reading and demos comfortable. OnEdit keeps documents on your Mac and does not upload document text to OnEdit servers.
