MD Simple View is a Markdown viewer for people who use Claude Code. Claude Code prints Markdown into your terminal as raw text — headings as ##, tables as pipes, code fences as backticks. It cannot do otherwise. MD Simple View puts the same reply in a proper window beside your terminal: typeset, refreshed in place as you work, and never taking focus while you are typing. One window per project, not one per reply. A long session leaves you with one window, not forty. Run Claude Code in three repositories at once and you get three windows, each staying on its own conversation. It is optional and off until you turn it on, because it writes a file. Setup is one block of configuration you paste once and can read first — this app is sandboxed and cannot edit your Claude Code settings for you, which is exactly why it asks rather than acts. A separate switch opens each Markdown file Claude writes or edits, for when you would rather review a document than read about it. AND A GOOD MARKDOWN VIEWER FOR EVERYTHING ELSE Double-click any .md file in Finder and it appears as a clean, typeset article: proper headings, a readable line length, tables that line up, code that is coloured, diagrams that are drawn. No editor chrome, no library to file things into. A viewer, in the way Preview is a viewer for PDFs. Not an editor, not a notes app, not a knowledge base. It cannot modify your file, because it has no write capability at all. READING • Opens .md and .markdown from Finder, Open With, drag and drop, or File > Open • Quick Look: press space in Finder and read it without opening anything • GitHub Flavored Markdown: tables, task lists, strikethrough, fenced code blocks • Mermaid diagrams — flowcharts, sequence, state and more — drawn rather than shown as source • Syntax highlighting for fifty language tags — Swift, TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust, C, SQL, YAML and more • The HTML a README actually uses — badge rows, collapsible sections, keyboard keys, hand-written tables • Footnotes, gathered at the foot with links back to the text • Find in document, with a match count • An outline sidebar of the document's headings, to jump by • YAML front matter shown as a tidy metadata block • Light and dark reading themes, or follow the system • Four reading widths and adjustable text size • Print • Select and copy the rendered text, without the syntax • Local images, resolved next to your document • In-document links and anchors • VoiceOver support and full keyboard navigation PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION • No network features. Nothing is uploaded, ever. • No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising. • Sandboxed, with read-only access to the files you choose. • Remote content referenced by a document is blocked, not fetched. • The page you read runs no scripts. • Raw HTML is reduced to plain formatting; anything that could load or run is removed.
