MedID - Medical Profile

MedID is a HIPAA-compliant medical identification system. Store your medical profile and link it to a physical NFC wristband, card, or keyfob. When scanned by a medical professional, your encrypted profile instantly displays your conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts.

For Patients:
• Create your medical profile: conditions, medications, allergies, blood type, emergency contacts, and more
• Activate your MedID device (bracelet, card, or key fob) by scanning its NFC chip or QR code
• Get notified when a medical professional scans your profile
• Your data is encrypted and never leaves the server unprotected
• Control your own data: only you can edit your profile

For Medical Professionals:
• Scan any MedID device via NFC, QR code, or manual 6-character code entry
• Instantly view patient conditions, medications, and emergency contacts
• Works offline: cached decryption keys allow scanning without internet
• Requires verified medical organization code and two-factor authentication
• All access is audit-logged with tamper-proof hash chain for HIPAA compliance

Security:
• AES-256-GCM encryption for all patient data links
• Role-based access: patients and medical professionals have separate permissions
• Biometric lock with role-based session timeouts
• Firebase App Check prevents unauthorized API access
• Encryption keys managed server-side via Google Cloud Secrets Manager
