WHAT IT PRODUCES

LocalBrief does not summarise news articles. It identifies issues — real-world situations with direct practical consequence. Each issue may draw from multiple sources, but you see one structured entry: what the situation is, its current status (new, ongoing, or updated), its geographic scope, and why it matters for your specific use case.

Ongoing issues are tracked across days. A situation active for three days does not appear as new each morning — it is tracked in the History tab and flagged only when something material has changed.

The output answers one question: what is currently affecting daily life in this location?

HOW IT WORKS

Each morning, LocalBrief searches sources in the native language of your configured location — municipal publications, local news outlets, official notices. A rule-based filter applies geographic relevance and deduplicates sources before AI translates, classifies, and normalises each into a consistent structured format.

You receive tiered output — Critical, Important, and Contextual — in your language, with sources cited where available.

LANGUAGE HANDLING

LocalBrief always searches in the native language of the location, not in English. This reaches the most accurate local sources — not translated aggregations.

Your output language is set once. It applies to every location you follow.

Examples:
· UK expat in Spain → searches Spanish, delivers English
· German tourist in Japan → searches Japanese, delivers German

FOUR MODES

Set a mode per location to match your relationship with it:

· Resident — know about water cutoffs, road closures, and council decisions before they affect your day.
· Tourist — catch transport strikes, weather warnings, and area closures before they catch you.
· Business Trip — stay ahead of logistics disruptions, labour actions, and regulatory changes.
· Somewhere Else — a family's city, a property, a place you watch from afar. What locals wake up to, delivered to you.

WHAT'S IN YOUR BRIEF

Each daily brief includes:
· Issues by category (Utilities, Healthcare, Transport, Weather, Government...)
· Three priority tiers: Critical (red), Important (amber), Contextual (grey)
· Operational status per issue: new, ongoing, or updated
· Source count, timestamp, and source citations where available
· Ongoing Issues — active items tracked across days in the History tab

· Morning briefing — prepared daily and delivered via push notification. Not counted toward your manual quota.

Content is sourced from publicly available local publications and processed using AI for translation, classification, and normalisation. Sources are cited where available.

PRIVACY

Your location and language settings stay on your device. The backend stores your schedule and briefings, deletable on request — never sold or shared.
