Shuttery: RAW Photo Culler

Shuttery is a culling app for photographers — the first pass through a shoot. Open a folder or a card, fly through thousands of frames with the arrow keys, mark them with colours and stars, and the ratings land in XMP files next to the photos. No catalogue, no import, no cloud.

NEW IN 2.1: CULL ON YOUR iPAD
Send a job to your iPad with one click. The originals stay on the drive next to your computer; the tablet gets light previews at your camera's full resolution. Rate on the sofa, and the ratings come back to the Mac and land in XMP files beside the originals. It all happens on your own network or over a cable — nothing goes through the internet. Requires Shuttery for iPad; one subscription covers both.

TWO LOOKS TO CHOOSE FROM
A modern look built from macOS parts — the system window bar, a translucent toolbar, and a quiet interface where your marks stand out immediately. Light theme, dark theme, or whatever your system is set to. The classic look stays exactly as it was. Switch in Appearance Settings, instantly, with no restart.

FAST CULLING WITH ONE KEY
The Q key works like Photo Mechanic — press once for red, press again to clear. You stop thinking "1, 2, 3" and start thinking "keep or not". M and Shift+M move or copy a photo to a chosen folder in one press, XMP file included.

NAVIGATION WITHOUT WAITING
Hold an arrow key and the image keeps up — Shuttery draws it through the graphics card and fills in the metadata once you let go. RAW thumbnails are built several times faster, so a full card is on screen as soon as you open the folder.

100% ZOOM
Press Z or double-click to see the photo at full sensor resolution — exactly what you need for judging focus. Zoom level and position stay put as you move between frames, so you compare the same eye across a whole series.

RATING PHOTOS
Colour labels and stars written to XMP files that Adobe Lightroom, Capture One and Photo Mechanic read. The mark shows on the thumbnail, in the grid and on the filmstrip. Undo up to 50 steps (Cmd+Z). Select hundreds of photos and apply a colour in one go.

FILTERS IN ONE PLACE
A single grid of colours and stars: hide them, show only the ones you picked, or select them in bulk. One button clears everything.

GRID AND LIST
A unified grid shows folders and photos together — exactly like the Finder. There is also a list view with columns: name, type, size, dimensions, date, rating.

INFO PANEL WITH EXIF
Camera, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, focal length, date and file size. The panel works in the grid too, so you check a frame's settings without opening it.

FILMSTRIP AND SECOND SCREEN
The thumbnail strip under the photo scrolls in step with your navigation. A separate preview window goes on an external monitor — grid on the laptop, big frame beside it.

SIDEBAR
A folder tree with favourites, locations and drives. It remembers expanded folders and scroll position. Open a photo from the Finder and the sidebar centres its folder for you.

PERSONALISATION
Over 60 keyboard shortcuts you can remap, with conflict detection. Build the toolbar from modules by dragging. Move your shortcuts, colours and settings to another Mac.

RAW SUPPORT
Sony ARW, Canon CR2 and CR3, Nikon NEF and NRW, Adobe DNG, Fujifilm RAF, Olympus ORF, Panasonic RW2, Pentax PEF and Samsung SRW. Plus JPG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, WebP.
