Sword Drill

Remember "Sword Drills" in Sunday School? The teacher whould announce a verse and see who could find it and read it to the class first. This app was built from that concept. It provides an expedited view of bible chapters/verses from BibleGateway.com. It add quick buttons to select the last several verses/passages most recently retrieved which enhances Bible study cross referencing. This was my first app first published when the App Store was barely a month old back in 2008. It was pulled from the store when the original 32 bit apps were disallowed because at the time I didn't have the time to update it. With the advent of AI, I was able to feed my old project and have AI turn it into a modern SwiftUI version in just a few minutes. There are other Bible Reading apps out there but this one is lightweight and agile in ways that are helpful.

Sword Drill is a focused, native front-end for Bible Gateway. Pick a book, enter a chapter or verse, choose a translation, and read — without ads, banners, or site navigation getting in the way.

FEATURES

• Distraction-free reading — Ads, banners, and page chrome are automatically filtered out so you see only the passage text. Ad network requests are blocked to save bandwidth.

• Three translation buttons — Tap KJV, NKJV, NASB, or customize the buttons in Settings with any version Bible Gateway supports.

• Recent passages — Your five most recent lookups appear as quick-access buttons for fast reference.

• Keep screen awake — Toggle the screen lock so your device stays on while you read or study.

• Designed for accssibility. Every control has been enabled for voice over and color scheme updated for those with color discrimination issues.
